4 SOFT SKILLS CRUCIAL FOR LEADERSHIP

When it comes to leadership, soft skills can take up much more of your day-to-day activities than hard skills. The most successful leaders not only master the technical aspects of their job, but they also possess soft skills. We could cover a lot of different soft skills that are valuable, but at Escape Room Flanders we mainly focused our leaders on these 4.

The 4 As

Attitude (attitude)

YOUR ATTITUDE SETS THE TONE FOR THE ENTIRE TEAM. LET THAT SIN FOR A TIME.

Your mood affects the success or failure of every team member in the building. That is a big responsibility, but you can handle it. If you have 199 great days at work and 1 horrible day, what's the most memorable? Yes, that 1 horrible day. It's not fair or fun, but people remember their leaders' failures more than their successes. We know everyone has bad days but it's better to take a day off than to lead a team with a bad attitude.

awareness

As soon as you take a leadership position, everything you say and do is scrutinized. Regardless of your intentions, perception is the most important thing.

PERCEPTION IS REALITY, FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS AND FOR YOUR TEAM.

Your actions will be closely watched so take the opportunity to model great customer satisfaction for your team. Communicate with as many customers as possible while being a team leader and show genuine love for the unique individuals who visit your business. Give others the responsibility and let your team take the lead. Instead of stepping in and offering a disgruntled customer a refund, guide your team member and empower them to do it themselves. They enjoy being the hero and you gain influence by showing that you believe in their abilities. Win win!

Appreciation

As a team leader, your mindset should be "I'm not looking over your shoulder, I'm supporting you." Spend more time looking for team members who are doing it right and then let them know instead of chasing those who are doing it wrong.

Look for ways to show your appreciation by showing servant leadership. How much the team members enjoy their work is determined almost entirely by the way their leaders value and serve them. Volunteer for the less desirable tasks. If you're not sure how to help your team, just ask! "Anyone need a rest?" "Can I fill your water bottle for you?"

Adaptability

TEAM LEADERS MUST EXECUTIVE FLEXIBILITY IN A REMARKABLE WAY.

Each shift will present a new set of challenges, such as covering a team member stuck in traffic, avoiding a boot failure, and calming down a disgruntled customer almost at the same time.

GREAT TEAM LEADERS DON'T LIKE PRESSURE; IN FACT, THEY ENJOY IT.

Stressful situations are an exciting challenge - an opportunity for you to shine (although you decline that credit to your team). Stay cool, calm and confident and you can solve any problem.
